Join us for our final Learn & Learn of 2025 on October 29 at 12-1 p.m. to hear from Dr. Louis Harveson, the founder and director of Borderlands Research Institute (BRI) at Sul Ross State University! Dr. Harveson holds the Dan Allen Hughes, Jr., Endowed Directorship and is the Associate Provost of Research and Development at Sul Ross State University. Dr. Harveson’s research efforts have focused on the borderlands of Texas-Mexico including Gulf Coast Prairies, South Texas Brush Country, and the Trans-Pecos Mountains and Basins. An underlying theme of Dr. Harveson’s research has been on conservation of natural resources on private lands.

"The mission of the Borderlands Research Institute is to help conserve the natural resources of the Chihuahuan Desert Borderlands through research, education, and outreach. The goal of the Borderlands Research Institute is to provide land managers with the most current scientific information on the management of natural resources of the area. To meet this goal, the Institute plans and conducts research investigations on various aspects of the natural world and provides the results to the land managers so that they may more effectively manage the resources with which they are entrusted."

During this Lunch & Learn, Dr. Harveson will discuss BRI's current work, including bighorn sheep, blue quail, and bears in the Chihuahuan Desert Borderlands region.

Once you have RSVPed, you will receive a confirmation email with a Zoom Link for the meeting.
